Paul Rudd has joined the cast of “Only Murders in the Building.”
Hulu confirmed to Variety that he will star in the show’s third season after making a cameo as Broadway star Ben Glenroy in Season 2 finale “I Know Who Did It.” It has not yet been announced whether Rudd will appear in a series regular, recurring or guest capacity.
“Paul Rudd, after making an auspicious entrance into the world of our show at the end of Season 2 as Ben Glenroy, is someone we clearly want to know more about and see in our upcoming Season 3 — as he is a clear source of many upcoming questions and, as ever with our show, many twists yet to come!” series co-creator John Hoffman said in a statement to Variety. And here’s series co-creator John Hoffman’s answers about Paul Rudd joining the series.
TVLINE | Tell me about casting Paul Rudd as Murder Victim No. 3!
Paul is a good friend of Marty’s and has been for a little while. He also had worked with Selena on a lovely film [for Netflix], The Fundamentals of Caring. And he has revered Steve Martin since he was a kid. He seemed like a logical person to go to with a ridiculous request, which was, “Can you come be in the last five minutes of Season 2, potentially with an option to return [for] Season 3?”
TVLINE | So it’s safe to assume Rudd will return? You won’t just have a body double sprawled out on stage for the entirety of Season 3?
The hope is that he doesn’t get some huge thing that takes him away [from us], but I’m pretty sure we’re in good shape. Our victims play major parts in the season, so we’re really excited to have him be a part of it. [Source]
TVLINE | How did you manage to keep Rudd’s casting under wraps?
I honestly don’t know. I got all excited on one of the days Paul was here. It was actually a costume fitting day [for him], for Episode 10. We had a huge amount of the cast assembled in Bunny’s apartment [when] Paul came by to say hello, so I just said, “This is too good, let’s take a picture!” So we took a picture, and then I was, like, “Oh, no!” I think someone posted it somewhere. Thank God nothing was given away in that picture, but it did get out a little bit. I think people started wondering, like, “Is Paul Rudd just visiting the set to see his friends?”

San Diego Comic-Con is once again in full swing, and that can only mean one thing: Marvel Studios has returned to Hall H! During the blockbuster Marvel Studios panel at the convention center, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige took the stage to thunderous cheers and applause to announce what’s coming next out of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in theaters and streaming on Disney+.
Feige revealed that Phase 5 kicks off in 2023 with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, opening Feb. 17, 2023. Super Hero partners Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) return to continue their adventures as Ant-Man and The Wasp. Together, with Hope’s parents Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) and Janet Van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer), the family finds themselves exploring the Quantum Realm, interacting with strange new creatures, and embarking on an adventure that will push them beyond the limits of what they thought was possible.
But can the cast offer up anything else about the next outing with the Ant-Fam? Well, for starters, as Rudd told the crowd, “Scott is pretty pleased with himself in his role with saving the universe” — he even wrote a book about it titled LOOK OUT FOR THE LITTLE GUY! (Everyone else, though, loves to tease him about it.)
Family’s a big theme for the movie, as the whole cast teased, but when asked about the Scott-Cassie dynamic, considering he was gone for so much of her life, both stars are mum. “Cassie is becoming who she’s supposed to be,” Newton offered up. “And I don’t want to say anything else!” [Source]

Set in Berlin in 2052, Mute follows a bartender named Leo (Skarsgård) who lost the ability to speak after a childhood accident. After his beloved girlfriend Naadirah (played by Seyneb Saleh) unexpectedly disappears, he sets out on a noir-ish quest to find her, diving deep into the city’s seedy, neon underworld.
The only recurring clue that Leo finds is a pair of wise-cracking American surgeons: Rudd, wearing a hell of a mustache, and Theroux, wearing a hell of a wig. Jones co-wrote the script with Michael Robert Johnson (Sherlock Holmes), and he’s said in the past that Mute is somehow connected to his 2009 debut film Moon, which stars Sam Rockwell as a man working as a solitary miner on the Earth’s moon.
Netflix signed on to distribute Mute last year, and it’s expected to hit the streaming service later in 2017. [Source]

After a sojourn in big budget action territory with Warcraft, Duncan Jones is returning to his roots with Mute, a sci-fi film that will form a trilogy with his directorial debut Moon and as-yet-untitled third film.
Set in a futuristic Berlin, Mute will take place in the same universe as Moon and star Alexander Skarsgård as a mute bartender trying to track down a missing partner with the help of a surgeon played by Paul Rudd (an odd premise, yes, but an intriguing one). [Source]
